Notorious SiriProxy Plugin Makes Siri A Rapper

The best thing about open-source and crowd-sourcing is that there is no limit to the amount of creativity and development a product/feature can achieve once subject to public development, thanks to SiriProxy Plugin hack independent developers are creating amazing stuff like controlling their roomscomputers, and even cars.
To get things a notch above iPhone Hacker robb created a "Siri Hack" for the Music Hack Day 2011, Robb used the SiriProxy and developed "Notorious Siri" plugin which raps the "Notorious B.I.G.’s Hypnotize song". Full video after the jump.

Google confirms no affiliation with Carrier IQ

Here’s another update to the whole Carrier IQ news blowup in the past week (this time it’s Google’s turn, instead of Apple). Word on the street is that Google has confirmed that they themselves have no affiliation whatsoever with Carrier IQ, and that Nexus devices do not included the software. So this is essentially Google officially distanced itself from any responsibility for the tracking software from Carrier IQ. We wonder what Carrier IQ’s response will be, especially after Senator Al Franken called the company out just this afternoon.
We do not have an affiliation with CarrierIQ. Android is an open source effort and we do not control how carriers or OEMs customize their devices.
After having being found on numerous handsets currently offered on the market, Carrier IQ news has basically blown up this past week. While Verizon has claimed that Carrier IQ isn’t installed on their devices, Apple, RIM, Nokia, Windows Mobile, and most Android devices do indeed show evidence of the tracking software. Do SlashGear readers own any of the aforementioned smartphone devices? Which ones? Have you found the Carrier IQ tracking software on your device yet?
RIM, Nokia, HP, and now, finally Google are all striving to distance themselves from Carrier IQ. To reiterate, on the carrier end, Verizon has disclaimed usage of the software for tracking purposes, while Sprint claims that it uses the software for “network performance maintenance” only. We wonder what kind of network performance maintenance required user device tracking. But nevertheless, we’ll keep you updated if more Carrier IQ news emerges soon.

gujrat gov offers free opinion for addict

Ironical as it may sound, 600 drug addicts in Surat will be offered supplements of cocaine and heroin free by the state government on Thursday. This is part of a unique experiment being initiated in the diamond city where opium content will be provided in tablet form to keep the addicts on a high and prevent them from exposing them to sustained high risk of contracting HIV virus through use of unsafe needles and syringes!

The project, first of its kind in Gujarat, will be launched on World AIDS day. Registered drug addicts will be given tablets of methadone and buprenorphine, which has opium content and considered substitutes for heroin and cocaine addiction at the Drug addicts De-addiction and Oral Substitution Theory (DOST) centre, which will begin operations at psychiatry department of Government Medical College (GMC).

A 2009 survey in Surat showed that 2,000 drug addicts used syringes to inject themselves with drugs. Some 600 of these joined a prevention programme for HIV AIDS in which they were given sterilized syringes to be used by each individual only once. The same group is now being adopted in the DOST project.

"There was no notable decrease in HIV infections among drug abusers after they were provided with sterilized syringes. Hence oral therapy is being introduced as it is a proven technique the world over," said J K Kosambiya , programme advisor, Surat AIDS prevention and control unit. The project is offered by National AIDS Control (NACO) programme in association with GujaratState AIDS Control Society (GSACS).
